  • Yeah. I don't mind using it because it means "the embodiment of god" and well, what can I say… I'm just that conceited. :P

It stems from the Greek Theophania which rooted other words like theology.

  • @'Tiffany':

    Tiffany's my actual name. :P

Really? I always thought it was short for "Terrific Fanny". :D

  • typically with faces (especially eyes) the placement is very select for it to look natural,
(like making a skyrim character, having the setting too far one way or the other looks off)
I'd think the best bet would be to keep it as is, but just tinker around with the locations and proportions until it looks right,
Though as a suggestion, perhaps a smaller nose, put the eyes a half centimeter higher and possibly the mouth a smidgen lower

  • Tiffany's my actual name. :P

  • @'Jimjim':

I'd say It's all in the face, I think it's too big in proportion to the rest of her body. Maybe it just looks too fat around the cheeks and the eyes and nose look too wide as well. I think the eyebrows are a bit too think and that there's too much space between her eyebrows and her hair line.

That's what I think you should play around with. Leave the body as it is but maybe reduce the girth of her arms they look a bit fat in comparison to the rest of her body.

One of the problems with mesh smoothing is that it wipes out some of the smaller details like muscularity in the arms.

    @'Evolluisionist':

You could possibly make her eyes rounded and overall make her look younger in the face. possible move the eyes up. not really sure what to do just play around with it a little. i know that is what i do when i feel like something is off.

really am interested in how your character turns out in the future. i really do like her :)

    Thanks for the encouragement.

I'm pretty sure younger is the wrong direction for any character this small. Analia is actually supposed to be very old.

I am going to try making changes to the face once I'm done with the two images I'm working on. Moving the eyes up a little is one of the first things I'll try.

    @'Tiffany':

The eyes need to go up to about where the eyebrows are, less slant would be good as well, and the lips just have a very odd expression to them. Maybe the bottom lip is too fat in the center and not fat enough at the sides. Biggest thing is the face.

Yeah, I think I'll try moving the eyes up and changing their angle. I'm going to try to retain the heart-shaped aspects of her face though.

    @'Tiffany':

But the breasts look super saggy with ginormous aureolas and the butt is just terrifying lol. It's like worse than one of those super silly ones in like an SNL or Mad TV skit… xD

The breasts aren't saggy at all. She's got a lot of development in her upper pectorals, so that may be what's giving you that impression.

Her generous ass is central to this character and will figure prominently in her story. It is titled “A Gnomes Tail” after all. It's probable that you aren't part of the target audience. Given your current avatar that surprises me a little bit. ;)

Is “Tiffany” the name of one of your characters?

    @'Tiffany':

Try something more fairy-like for the face. Like larger eyes with much less extreme slant, larger higher cheekbones and a thinner more angular cheeks and chin. Start with an attractive human proportioned face and then make small less extreme changes from that. I think what you're going for is something like Tinkerbell's face

Tinker Bell isn't really what I'm going for with this character, though I'm going to have several characters that are much more like that.

Actually Analia is based on the fae gnome archetype as found in the Pathfinder game. Check out the following links for some examples of the Pathfinder gnome:

It's the face really. I'm the last one to be overly critical so no insult is intended. I think I understand what you were going for with stylizing the face but it went a little bit too…far. There's some extreme distortion in the face although that may have been intentional. All in all it's a great character design with a lot of potential but to me the face/head is a little overstylized. Great work! Keep tweaking!!

    Thanks!

    @'fredfred5150':

Compared to how far her bum sticks out, her breasts look too small, which makes her look like her body is made from 2 different bodies, if you don't want to give her huge breasts to compensate, maybe shrink her ass? by %25

Sorry, but I really don't see why the size of the tits needs to be related to the size of the ass. Isn't it really a personal preference thing? Analia's concept really calls for smaller breasts, but I just don't have the courage to do that.

    Thanks for the feeback y'all.

I'm going to try making more changes to the face after I finish the images that are already in progress. I'm also going to toy with redesigning her based on the Aiko 5 model rather than the combination of Stephanie 5 & Victoria 5 I'm using right now.

  • Others have given in-depth comments about her face, theres nothing I could add.

  • @'Evolluisionist':

Ultimately to me it's the face that i feel needs some work. you've done a great job with her overall design. her height, hair color and ears, it makes her stand out from other 3d artists original characters which i try to do with my characters. i feel that the proportion between the nose and eyes look off to me.

granted this is completely opinion. i try to be a constructive and non-biased when i critique some elses work. :D

Thanks. I did try to pick a concept that, to my knowledge, hasn't been explored before. There are plenty of titty elves, but not booty gnomes. Rarely any kind of gnome, really.

Is it that you think the eyes need to be higher up on her face?

    @'Supro':

I can't say she's sexy. But she is close. As Evol said, the face does need some work done as I feel it takes away from her overall look. But for someone who started a few months ago, you're progressing nicely.

    Thanks.

I'm really not sure what to change on her face. What I'm going for is a cute gnome face rather than a traditional beauty. She needs to look obviously non-human without being off putting. A normal looking woman with elf ears scaled down to 3' tall would just be too far off of archetype.

    What would you do?

    @'Tiffany':

I'd say extremely scary, no offense intended.

I'm certainly not offended, but I don't really know what you mean by scary. Do you mean that she's slipped into the uncanny valley?

    @'fredfred5150':

I'm sorta in agreement with Tiffany (and I too mean no offense)

The overall proportions of the characters features just don't have the "balanced" look that appeals to me

Are you talking about just her facial features or are you also referring to her T&A? The breasts are really too large for the concept, but I don't want some jerk trying to claim that I'm making a run around the child porn prohibition just because she isn't stacked.

    @'fredfred5150':

But hey, if shes what you like, go for it :)

Well, I'd like for her to look like a gnome, but I'd also like for her to be less off putting to some people.

If by 'what I like' you mean my preferences, then I'd like for her to be at least two and a half feet taller, have blonde or reddish hair, Nordic features & a sleeker build. Almost every artist does characters like that, so why should I?

Anyway, what I'm after with this thread is to collect data to help me decide how to proceed after finishing my next two images. Do I jump into producing pages for "A Gnome's Tail," or do I redesign Analia and get some more practice creating morphs and doing postwork before tackling that larger project? Either way I'd learn, but maybe "A Gnome's Tail" would be a stronger work if I create it after I have a little more experience.
