  • lord of the rings triology, star wars triology(original one), ben hur or gladiator, matrix triology…. argh so many...

  • @'goobernutt':

Also, there's one Hulk smash scene towards the end (which hopefully hasn't been spoiled for you) that had me laughing my ass off.

Apologies for the double/necro post, but I watched The Avengers last night, and the scene I think you are refering to was hilarious, I burst into laughter right there on the sofa, not the best superhero movie I've seen, but well worth watching

  • I think we were all easier to impress in high school.

But I dunno, I always think those dystopian visions of the future (like robocop) aren't that far removed from the real world, I could easily picture a corporation like "Omni-Consumer Products" emerging in the 21st century (although they probably won't produce an ED-209 till the 22nd century :D)

lol, I remember the 3-breasted hooker, its amazing how about 20 years later that part of the movie is etched into peoples minds (you make me wish I had 3 hands!)

  • One of the more recent articles about the Robocop remake had a link to the trailer for the original movie. I must have been easier to impress when I was in high school, because that trailer made the movie look all sorts of bad. And not "so bad it's good" (which the movie is, in many ways), but just plain bad.

    @'fredfred5150':

the remake had no chance of being any good

The only improvement I can discern, having not actually seen the Total Recall remake, is the actress playing the three-breasted hooker. Kaitlyn Leeb > Lycia Naff, by a country mile.

  • They can't do that to Robocop!!! Sigh…... well [email protected]$%.

I have heard that the new Judge Dredd is good. I'm planning on seeing that this weekend. Anyone else seen it?

  • well, now I know which dvd i'm buying next ;)

As for Total Recall, I loved that movie too (see you at the party Richter!), the remake had no chance of being any good, dumbing down proper adult (certifcate 18) action movies is a pet annoyance of mine, They're even doing it with a remake of Robocop!

I really wish hollywood would stop making movies that have to be availible to the teenage cinema market, so that us adults could have something "on our level" to see in the cinema

  • Avengers does the great thing of using the Hulk just the right amount. It's easy for Hulk to be the answer to every big threat. The Hulk is great in it. I'm still not sure about the new Bruce Banner but he is not a bad Bruce Banner. If you like the Hulk and Iron Man this is your movie.

Yeah I think they have re-titled "The Professional" as "Leon, The Proffesional".
    Hells yeah, Gary Oldman!!!

Since we are on the topic of Arnold Movies. I miss the old "Total Recall" I loved that movie. The new one sucked.

  • @'fredfred5150':

Is there a lot of Iron Man action in the avengers? does the hulk "smash" a lot? I like both of those guys a lot (especially Iron Man)

Yes, definitely, to both questions. One of the few criticisms the movie seemed to draw was that there was too much focus on Tony Stark / Iron Man and not enough on the other characters. Which was fine with me, because he's easily the most interesting and entertaining of the bunch (at least, as far as the various movies are concerned). And it certainly wasn't "Iron Man 3 With Cameo Appearances by the Other Avengers" the way some seemed to describe it – there's plenty of the other guys (and gal). Also, there's one Hulk smash scene towards the end (which hopefully hasn't been spoiled for you) that had me laughing my ass off.

Well here's my 3; gonna age myself on these

1: Conan the Barbarian (original) Never get tired of it; Mako makes the movie for me. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082198/

2: Repo Man, just a awesome movie all around to me. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087995/

All Arnie movies are good my friend, even the bad ones, as for Repo Man, I saw that on tv at about 3am one night, it defintitely deserves its cult status

    @'svggphr':

Just bought Avengers, Great special effects. Not the greatest movie ever but I am really enjoying it.

    Fight Club

I think it's even better than the book. Just love all the lines and quotes like this one: This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time.

    Terminator 2: Judgment Day

The Terminator movie for me. Probably also The James Cameron movie too.

Loved the scene in fight club where the guy beat himself up in his boss's office, as for T2:Judgement Day, it is the best of the terminator movies (although it didnt feature the bar "Tech Noir")

  • Gladiator

Probably the only 'recent' movie that has no 'fuck', 'shit' or even 'hell' in any of the dialogue at all.

  • Yes, I did. Did you?

  • Did you even watch the movie? pshhh

  • I thought Drive was quite boring. Yes, it was artfully directed, but the acting was dreadful. Especially Baby Goose, who pretty much just wandered around with a goofy grin on his face the whole movie (except the final act, when he replaced grin face with frowny, angsty face).

    3. Drive ( Brian Gosling, I didn't expect much from this movie but it blew me away
It was very artfully made, just an all around good movie.)

I've heard thats a really cool movie, I'll have to check it out
