A few came out great, some OK and some bad. One or two of the bad ones did load up looking different in Daz then from Poser? Weird.

    Then it amplified the ugly.

And now, my son, you know firsthand my reason to delay going into newer generations. Besides requiring significant investment and commitment, you have to deal with this unless you're a wizard who won't share his alchemical secrets with the population en masse (for free). Likely you'll have to wait until this generation has reached its half-life, bearing technological improvements. :)

Yeah, it kinda sucks, but so far the pros have been outweighing the cons. G3F has been out for a while now, the support seems pretty decent.

Now I think my biggest issue are the shoes… I have so many V4 shoes I need to get working on G3F. Of course I'd have this problem on G2F as well, most are generation 4 only. Also I'll update that compatibility thread, minor issue I ran into the other day.

http://darkhound1.deviantart.com/art/Legacy-to-Gen3-morph-converter-1-0-buy-it-here-589021408 - Darkhound1 just dropped his. BUT I will probably wait for the D3D one myself.

What g3f stuff are you looking to use on g2f? Shoes dont work so well, but most everything else does. Skirts kinda suck tooo…...

Yeah I got this with mixed results.

  • d3d?

well i like to buy stuff from daz shop and then modify them for my needs in zbrush or with other textures and bump maps, whatever i feel like :) and during the last weeks i saw a LOT of interesting stuff that cant be used by my girls at the moment…

  • mmmh… still nothing to find in this issue? :) meanwhile lots of stuff is made just for gen3, and wont work for my gen2 girlies :/

  • While possible, the geometry of the face, especially the eyes is very different - the export from g2f may yeild awkard results. You can always try to correct them in zbrush but as far as my experiments went, the eyelids (up & down) and the freakin multilayered eyebulb got wonky.

  • I would like to stay on G2F for main characters for the time being. Mostly because the full library of Zev0 stuff isn't available yet for G3F. Mouth/Tongue control for one…

Don't get me wrong, my latest joint has 1 G3F in it, but she is kinda a pain to work with compared to G2F without all the fixes, etc.

  • I know there are, because I've made a morph for G3 from a G2 model. However, I don't know where I found the tutorial—either DeviantArt or the DAZ forums. On DA, you might check SnowSultan's profile. He often highlights stuff like that—most of the time, if I know about it, its because he mentioned it. Or the goddess of Iray, Mec4D. It's possible I've even saved it someplace in my resources/tutorials gallery.

IRC, the process goes something like this: Zero-pose your G2F and export it as a .obj. Load the G3F G2F clone, and import your .obj file as a morph. Apply it to the G3F G2F clone, and save that as a morph.

If you have things you change on your figure (say a nipple erect or muscle morph), zero those morphs before you export the character, so you can add them later without doubling them. Then, if you don't have a satisfying equivalent morph for G3F, zero everything but that morph and export it. Some people export every morph on their G2F, but I only do entire characters. Partly because doing every morph would take forever and be boring. Partly because I'm less interested in the morphs than the character.

  • any tutorials around for that shape thingie? :) that texture thingie seems a little very complicated :D

  • Textures can be transferred: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/59665/tutorial-converting-textures-from-gen2-to-gen3

I don't think there is any automatic conversion for shapes, but you can save a character out as a shape morph. I forget the exact technique, but its the same process as converting a Genesis 1 figure to a Genesis 2, or a V4 to G1.
