  • Updated the renders. Added some post, clean up noise, lens effects, and added some more props.

  • I'm using blender and cycles on 8 core 4.2ghz amd cpu.

On luxrender it seems to be about the same.

Vray is too expensive for me. Maybe I'll just rent amazon server time.

I think however that the render times are normal. It's lit by mesh lights and it's a indoor scene so yeah. Grain is normal considering low light levels.

I'm making the switch to luxrender because it seems more realistic but very tough to specify materials. Render times seem even longer in lux with similar materials.

  • @'magicman':

Yes there is a bit of grain. Mostly because I don't want to wait multiple days for 20 frames to render. Currently takes about 18 hours for 20 frames. How does that compare with you guys' typical render times? I am curious :)

I mainly tried to clean up the geometry and make the lighting more realistic here. Thanks for the comment though, I will make sure to crank the sampling in my final renders.

Hmm, what hardware do you have? It's strange that it's taking so very long, I'm rendering with V-Ray, and the pics u post would take me no longer than up to 2 minutes each frame, I'm not exagerrating. And I'm not even using the faster RT rendering, only CPU. I guess it's the rendering engine, but man, it's slow.

  • Depending on what render engine you're using try rendering for longer or setting quality higher, there's quite a bit of noise/grain in the image

  • Hey! I have updated it a bit. More comments / suggestions??

  • I like the idea, but you need to work on the image quality - less noise, smoother geometry, more subtle expressions, maybe making the lighting more vibrant so that the overall image has a bit more contrast. Still, I like the asian girl.

  • Yeah its a UV map issue at the moment :)

  • Looks good, but I would suggest that you make the bedspread the same material as the hands. That way you can make the seams invisible :-)

  • I like it :)
